Description
Ferenc András is one of the main representatives of the generation of film directors that began after 1968. The novelty of the content and form of his feature films made between 1976 and 1986, which were both critically and popularly successful both at home and abroad (The Devil Beats His Wife, The Vulture, The Great Generation), is outstanding. In the volume, Klára Barabás conducted a life-long interview with Ferenc András, wrote the study presenting his film and television activities, and also selected the texts in the Appendix, which provide interesting additions to the history of the films that were made. The volume is illustrated with black and white pictures. Among the director's many unrealized film plans, the book also includes the first part of the screenplay, "He Played for the Thieves" written from the tetralogy of Nándor Gion's novels. By keeping it in the drawer, not only Ferenc András' filmography but also Hungarian film culture has probably become poorer.
