Modern satellite positioning, navigation, telecommunications, broadcasting, internet services, financial transactions, agricultural observations, meteorological forecasts, climate research, disaster prevention, military reconnaissance, surveillance and early warning... In just a few decades, space applications have become an integral part of human life and a vital element of our technological civilization. As the future of humanity points towards outer space, this trend is expected to continue, and the space sector is facing growth beyond all imagination. Today, we can witness the intensification of space activity and the emergence of a new space race, in which our country also wants to become an active player in the global value chain of the space sector. In such circumstances, the legal regulation of space activity receives special emphasis. Nearly sixty years after the publication of the first book on space law in Hungarian, our volume undertakes a comprehensive and detailed presentation of this regulation. Separate chapters discuss, among other things, the physical and technical foundations of space activity, the development and role of space policy, the system of international and national regulation, the institutions of international cooperation, the most important space applications and regulatory areas, the framework and methods of military use, and current regulatory issues and challenges. The richly illustrated volume is primarily intended for educational purposes, but it also provides an introduction to the legal regulation of human activity in outer space for all interested parties.
